Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) ministers have formally resigned from the federal and provincial cabinets on Tuesday. Two Federal Ministers, Dr Farooq Sattar and Babar Ghouri, and a Minister of State Dr Nadeem Ahsan have tendered their resignations to the Federal Government after MQM announced to quit the ruling coalition.
MQM ministers of the Sindh cabinet also resigned from their posts. Fourteen ministers of the MQM were serving in the Sindh cabinet. Their portfolios included health, youth affairs, rural development, industry & trade, environment, sports information technology, public health engineering, human rights and Ouqaf.
Shoaib Bukhari, Shaikh Mohammed Afzal, Faisal Sabzwari, Nadia Gabool, Abdul Haseeb, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Adil Siddiqui, Khwaja Izhar-ul-Hassan, Adil Siddiqui, Rauf Siddiqui, Mohammed Raza Haroon, Dr Mohammed Ali Shah, Zubair Ahmed Khan and Syed Sardar Ahmed are among those who resigned from their portfolios. They tendered their resignation to acting Governor Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khoro. MQM leaders charged that dictatorial and unconstitutional steps by the PPP government have compelled the MQM to part ways and sit on the opposition benches in the centre and Sindh.
