At least seven persons including a cop and a businessman of Shershah scrap market were killed in different incidents in various parts of the metropolis, here on Tuesday. According to the details, a man was gunned down by stray-bullet during exchange of fire between two political rival groups in the limits of Awami colony police station.
Police said the tension between MQM and ANP, which has been continued for a couple of days, has caused intermittent firing in the area. They said that unknown passer-by has received fatal bullet wound during the exchange of firing between these group and died on the spot at Lane 15, Bilal colony.
They said the victim, whose body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post-mortem and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification, appeared to be Bengali speaking. One Muhammad Khalid shot dead his 25-year-old wife Naseeb Bibi over the suspicion of her illegal relation, at Fareed Colony in the limits of Mominabad police station.
Police said the accused Muhammad Khalid, who married Naseeb Bibi some three years ago, killed his wife over the suspicion of her illicit relation and then tried to commit suicide by shooting himself. The couple did not have any child. They said the victim Naseeb Bibi died on the spot while Khalid rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The body of deceased, who hailed from Kala Dhaka was handed over to the family after autopsy. Meanwhile, police registered an FIR against the accused.
In another incident, a policeman was shot dead in Baldia Police remits. Police said the deceased Sarwar Shah, 40, who was deployed at city court, was targeted by the bandits, who barged in his house for looting purpose. They said the victim, who had five children, was hit by single bullet on his head and died on the spot. A case was registered against unknown dacoits.
A businessman of Shersha market, Nazir Ahmad, who was kidnapped at Nawa Lane, was gunned down in the limits of Kalakot police station. Police said the victim Nazir, 42 son of Haji Abdullah Baloch, a resident of Nawa lane, Lyari, was kidnapped when he went to market to buy food on Tuesday morning.
Later, the police, who had found his bullet-riddled body at Jamila Street, Ghaas Mandi, transported the same to the Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy. A case was registered against unknown culprits on complaint of victim's cousin Kamran Bux. Another body, which was fastened with rope, was recovered at Ranchore Line, Kapra Market. The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained while the body was found at Ranchore Line near Kapra Market.
Police said the victim was kidnapped before having been murdered by the unknown gunmen, who threw his body at Ranchore Line and managed to flee from the crime scene. The body was shifted to Edhi morgue after autopsy. An FIR was lodged against unidentified shooters.
One Zakir Farid, 35 was shot dead by unknown culprits over personal enmity in the jurisdiction of Mochko police station. Police said the victim, who used to run a PCO and a resident of Raja Tanveer Colony Baldia, hailed from Swat and might have been murdered over personal enmity. A body was found from Faqeer Goth within the limits of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station. Police said the deceased, who was a drug addict, had burns marks on his hands. The body was shifted to morgue after autopsy.
