Governor Sindh chairs law & order meeting

ishrat-ul-ibadKARACHI: Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, chaired a high level meeting on Wednesday.

The meeting held at the Governor House here reviewed the prevailing law and order in the province and took decisions to improve it further.

It was attended among others by the Sindh Home Minister, Manzoor Hussain Wassan, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Wasim Ahmed, Inspector General of Police Sindh, Mushtaq Shah, Deputy Director General Rangers, Brig. Zafar, AIGP Akhtar Gorchani.

The Governor appreciated the police action at a madressah near Sohrab Goth from where youngsters kept chained were recovered.

He said that security agencies especially the special branch of the police should pinpoint such cases earlier.

Dr. Ishrat also called for strengthening the activities of the special branch.

He said that Madaris are important segment of the society and are respected and that their contacts with the society should be strengthened.

The Governor said that Madaris that are not registered with Wafaq ul Madaris should be pinpointed.

He appreciated the bringing into the fold of law the unregistered Madrassah and this was endorsed by the Ulema.

The meeting also reviewed the law and order situation in Karachi's Lyari area.

It also considered the security with reference to Christmas, Birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and public meeting of Tehrik-i-Insaf.

Home minister Manzoor Wassan announced permission for Tehrik-i- Insaf's public meeting in the metropolis.

The meeting expressed concern at the increasing incidents of dacoities and directed that coordinated steps be undertaken for controlling the situation.

The Governor said that banks and jewelers should be made part of the security plan and legislation be also undertaken with regard to shops security.

He further directed that foolproof security should be ensured and an eye be kept on every aspect in this regard.
