Published Updated

Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has pledged to continue pro-active role in strengthening collaboration with international agencies for development of Pakistan's SMEs".
The SMEDA's Chief Executive Officer Yousaf Naseem Khokhar stated this while addressing the closing ceremony of a two-day workshop on "Process Control for Engineering Sector" organised by SMEDA in collaboration with the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries, an agency of the Netherlands' Ministry for Development Co-operation. Two international experts from Netherlands, Wouter Put; Entrepreneur/Management Consultant and Staf Henderieckx; Quality Systems and Foundry along with Imtiaz Rastgar, a local expert from Pakistan Chapter conducted the workshop.
The SMEDA chief said that Pakistani SMEs could explore the opportunities available in global market without enhancing the human resource quality as well as the production systems. He said that SMEDA was taking the best possible efforts to bridge this gap in collaboration with various international technical co-operation agencies, including JICA, GTZ and CBI.
Commenting on the workshop, Khokhar expressed hope that the workshop participants have gained international experience and knowledge from the experts as how to exploit full potential of value addition in their engineering concerns. The participating companies would be able to bring sustainability in production of high quality products at competitive costs, which would help them penetrate into on the European Union market.
The experts while expressing their comments on the occasion urged the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority to avail future programmes to be launched for South Asia by the Centre for the Promotion of Imports.
