Faisal Bank Twenty20 tournament: Shahid Afridi to lead Karachi Dolphins
Pakistan's former beleaguered skipper Shahid Afridi, who is on a war with PCB, has been named to lead Karachi Dolphins in the upcoming Faisal Bank Super Eight T20 Cricket Tournament. However, it is anticipated that Shahid Afridi, who is fighting a legal battle with the board, wouldn't be allowed to feature in the national domestic event.
"Right now, PCB has not given any direction to the KCCA, whether to retain Shahid Afridi in its original squad or not. So for the time being KCCA could do as it deems right. However, it is expected that Afridi, who has been denied of NOC, which restrained him from participating in Hampshire County, wouldn't be allowed to participate in its local domestic event as well," sources in the board told PPI.
Meanwhile, Karachi City Cricket Association President Siraj-ul-Islam Bukhari said that they have written to the board, asking them for the directions in Afridi's case, however no reply has been given by the board yet. "We haven't received any direction from the board and therefore Afridi is still the captain of Karachi Dolphins. However, if the board asks us not to retain Afridi then all-rounder Mohammad Sami would replace Afridi as the team's captain, Bokhari said.
Karachi Dolphin Squad: Shahid Afridi (Captain), Muhammad Sami (Vice Captain), Khalid Latif, Shahzab Hasan, Asad Shafiq, Rameez Raja, Fawwad Alam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Tariq Haroon, Misbah Khan, Sohail Khan, Rameez Aziz, Tanveer Ahmed, Fazal Subhan, Shahyar Ghani, Muhammad Waqas, Junaid Ilyas, Afsar Nawaz, Ali aMudassar, Azam Hussain.
