Swedish jobless up slightly in November-labour board

STOCKHOLM: Sweden's unemployment rate, measured by the number of registered jobless, rose slightly to 8.3 percent in November from 8.2 percent in October, the Swedish Public Employment Service (SPES) said on Wednesday.

The employment authority said in a statement the total number of people unemployed or in job programmes was 377,000 while 52,000 new vacancies were advertised in the month.

SPES bases its measure on the number of job-seekers who register with the Swedish labour board while the statistics office (SCB) releases a separate measure of joblessness, which is based on a survey.
