ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq Wednesday said continuity of the democratic system was pivotal for strengthening institutions in the country.
Everyone should give preference to national interest rather to focus on personal benefits, he said talking to a private news channel.
He said all political parties except one, wanted the government to complete its five year constitutional term for the continuity of the democratic system.
Pakistan Peoples Party was a mature political party, and it always wanted that the system should not be derailed, he said adding that present government should complete its constitutional period.
Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan was facing internal as well as external challenges and there was need to display unity to confront them. He said people of the country were real judge and they will have to review performance of the PML-N government in the next general elections.
The Speaker National Assembly said passing of delimitation bill was important to ensure holding general elections on time.
