New app lets you use iMessages on Android

As everybody knows that there is no way to get Apple’s closed messaging system, iMessages on a non-iOS or Android device. Recently, an app was created that can provide iMessages on an Android device.

Developed by a 16-year-old developer Roman Scott, the app is known as ‘weMessage’, which permits user to get iMessages on an Android device, but with one limitation: a Mac is required for this purpose.

“Although it allows you to use iMessage on your Android device, I cannot close the gap between Android and Apple completely because weMessage is reliant on an Apple computer,” wrote Scott.

The new app uses a weServer app present in a Mac that takes iMessages that are delivered to a Mac and further forwards them to an Android smartphone or tablet. The weServer functions as a bridge between a Mac and an Android device, explained Scott on Reddit.

“weMessage works by using Apple's developer tools that hook into the Messages app, as well as by turning on Accessibility features that will perform the message sending. There was zero reverse engineering involved in the creation of this app, so all messages being sent are legitimate. In addition, I believe this implementation is fair, as you still need to have an Apple device to use iMessage, but it is merely being extended to all devices.”

The app can support all the iMessages features, which include group chats, notifications, Do Not Disturb, attachments, content blocking and more, with notifications enabled by sending messages to the Google Firebase platform.

However, Mac Rumors report that weMessage is not the type of app that is likely to last long. Such methods have already been presented in the past that were later shut down by Apple. But for now, the app is free to download on Google Play Store.
