The Karachi Port handled 242,222 tonnes of cargo including 151,157 tonnes of import cargo, 91,065 tonnes of export cargo and 5,906 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 151,157 tonnes comprised of 100,367 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,790 tonnes of bulk cargo: 7,643 tonnes of coal; 2,532 tonnes of DAP; 2,615 tonnes of soyabean meal and 38,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 91,065 tonnes comprised of 52,974 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,136 tonnes of general cargo; 27,307 tonnes of bulk cargo: 5,337 tonnes of cement; 21,970 tonnes of wheat and 8,648 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Eleven ships namely YM North, APL Guangzhou, Yossa Bhum, Valdivia, Al-Mirqab, Eleanor-D, Orchid Ocean, Oriental Protea, Alpine Eternity, Leopard-B and Tan Binh-22 with five container ships, wheat carrier, coal, two oil tankers, cement carrier and general cargo sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Nine vessels viz Wan Hai-605, Valdivia, Al-Mirqab, Cape Manuel, Bunga Raya Lapan, APL Brisbane, Hyundai General, Iris Victoria and MT Lahore carrying seven container ships and two oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely APL Guangzhou, Cape Manuel and Bunga Raya Lapan with three container ships respectively expected to sail on Monday, while five ships namely OEL Shreyas, MT Lahore, Lt Genova, De Shan and Hyundai General carrying container ship, oil tanker, container ship, wheat carrier and container ship respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Four vessels viz DL Sunflower, Somho Valenica, Patriotic and APL Zircon with naphtha, two chemical carriers and container ship respectively due to arrive on Monday, while six vessels viz FSL Singapore, Trave Trader, Silver Craft, Kota Akbar, President Jackson and CSL Ride with mogas and five container ships respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 43,007 tonnes includes 15,670 tonnes of iron ore; 1,792 tonnes of chemicals and 25,545 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 32,357 tonnes includes 309 tonnes of cement; 5,588 tonnes of wheat and 26,460 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two container ships namely CV Maersk Wisconsin and CV ACX Refflesia sailed out to sea on Monday morning.
A total number of nine vessels viz CV Maersk Wisconsin, CV MSC Magali, CV ACX Refflesia, MV Wales-II, MV Orient-II, MV Warnow Sun, MT Golden Ambrosia, MT Redeim and MV Upper Court are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, chemicals and iron ore respectively during last 24 hours. Two ships namely Green Line and Iron Monger-5 carrying cement and diesel oil are currently at the outer anchorage.
Oil tanker Iron Monger-5 is expected to take berth at FOTCO Oil Terminal on Monday. Three ships namely MT Global Challenger, MT Asia Star and MT Anette Kosan Magali due to arrive on Monday, while two more ships namely MT Patriotic and MT Al-Soor-II are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday.
