Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has said that his party would bring a peaceful revolution to empower the talented youth of Punjab who have long been deprived of their rights by the feudal and other hegemonic powers.
He was delivering a telephonic address from London to a rally 'Istehkam-e-Pakistan' at Punjab Football Ground here on Sunday. The rally was attended by MQM workers and supporters from all parts of the country, besides the leaders of various political parties. Altaf Hussain said that MQM would bring a change poised towards welfare of the country.
He stated that discrimination against women and minorities would be eliminated and a welfare state would be created where free mandatory education up to matric level would be ensured.
MQM Chief amidst slogans of his party workers stated that issues of Balochistan should be resolved not by bullet but by negotiations. He pleaded for providing justice to the people of the province for the sake of the country. Vowing to eradicate corruption from the country, MQM Chief said that looted money would be brought back and an Accountability Commission comprising honest people would be formed.
Altaf averred that wind of change has become visible and now no body would be able to deter this change. He regretted that policies of the country were being dictated from outside. He vowed to change this trend and put the country on the road to self-respect. About autonomy to courts, the MQM chief said that this would be guaranteed.
About creating new provinces, Altaf said that such issues would be resolved by holding referendum. He said that MQM would take all possible measures to mitigate the sufferings of the people of Southern Punjab.
Earlier in his speech, MQM Deputy Convenor Farooq Sattar said that the people of Punjab would save Pakistan. He vowed to root out unemployment, inflation, and corruption from the country.
Former cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz, former opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheerudin were present in the meeting.
APP adds: Altaf Hussain said that MQM would bring about positive changes to make Pakistan a prosperous country and the people of Punjab wanted to get rid of hereditary politics.
He said, "this public meeting is the beginning of revolution. MQM don't want bloody revolution but peaceful."
He said there was no difference between people of Punjab and Sindh added that people want corruption free Pakistan.
Altaf said MQM wanted to bring the revolution of poor people in the country and added that hospitals would be constructed in all remote areas to ensure basic health facilities to the people.
He said that America and UK were framing policies of our country adding that MQM would make independent foreign policy. Altaf said that he had experienced poverty and knew the problems of the poor.
He said that MQM would make the education free upto matric in the country and it would introduce same syllabus for the children of rich and poor. He said that MQM was the enemy of those who looted national wealth. He said that Kashmir issue would be resolved according to the aspiration of the people of Kashmir.
