Commodities witness low demand due to disturbed conditions in city

The commodity wholesale markets stayed disturbed owing to city conditions, as a result commodities were in low demand and prices fluctuated in tolerable range.
The opening day saw rise in demand pushing the prices higher such as wheat with bardana rose by Rs 25 to Rs 2425, while wheat new with bardana rose by Rs 25 to Rs 2440, Irri rice white broken rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2850, while the other type was quoted at Rs 2900, rapeseeds Nawabshah rose by Rs 75 to Rs 2126, while inferior type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2150 and rapeseed cakes rose by Rs 10 to Rs 870, makai was quoted at Rs 2940 and Rs 3000 and juwar quoted at Rs 2550 and Rs 2600.
On Jodia Bazaar chemical items N.J Taiwan rose by Rs 6 to Rs 238, formic acid Pak appreciated by Rs 2 to Rs 101, and Oxalic acid China gained Rs 2 to Rs 69. Petroleum jelly DDBSA depreciated by Rs 5 to Rs 150, PVA Japan conceded Rs 4 to Rs 240, and caustic Taiwan rose by Rs 2 to Rs 48, Rangolite 'C' per pound dipped by Re 1 to Rs 83, same item from Germany up Re 1 to Rs 91, while India gained Rs 2 to Rs 89.
On Tuesday strike caused closure, hence no price fluctuation took place. On Wednesday slightly easier going was marked on the grain market where wheat old bardana scaled down by Rs 25 to Rs 2400, wheat new with bardana lost Rs 25 to Rs 2415 and gur conceded Rs 100 to Rs 5300 and Rs 6400. Grams 50x50 was higher by Rs 100 to Rs 5100 and Rs 5300. Cotton seed oilcake with bag low type rose by Rs 15 to Rs 1390, while the better type lost Rs 5 to Rs 1415, Irri 6 Sindh low type up by Rs 5 to Rs 3325, while superior type shed same amount to Rs 3375.
On Thursday makai low type shed Rs 65 to Rs 2875, while the other type stayed put at last level, wheat old with bardana was quoted at Rs 2410 and Rs 2415, wheat new bardana quoted at Rs 2425 and Rs 2430. Gur low type yielded sharply by Rs 100 to Rs 5200, while the other variety lost Rs 200 to Rs 6200. Cottonseed oilcake with bag low type shed Rs 40 to Rs 1350, the other type slumped by Rs 13 to Rs 1400, casterseeds Nawabshah rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2175 and Rs 2200, castorseeds Dadu up by Rs 100 to Rs 1950 and Rs 2000, rapeseed Mirpur rose by Rs 125 to Rs 2170 and Rs 2200, rapeseed cakes appreciated by Rs 10 to Rs 870 and Rs 875.
On Friday rates were unchanged on the wholesale grain and seed market, as main participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers. On Jodia Bazaar dry fruits ended down on. The changes were : DRY FRUITS (Per 40 kg): Kaghzi I was quoted at Rs 12,000/18,000, Raisin No II moved downward by Rs 2000 to Rs 12,000, Chilgoza (Roasted) finished lower by Rs 6000 to Rs 70,000 and Chilgoza (Un-roasted) went down by Rs 6000 to Rs 64,000.
On Saturday most of the commodity items tended higher. Wheat old Bardan was quoted lower at Rs 2375 and wheat new Bardan also registered down at Rs 2390, other items retained the overnight levels. Guwar from Sindh low type shed Rs 200 to Rs 4500 and best type was down by Rs 150 to Rs 4650. Grams 50x50 also fell by Rs 100 to Rs 5100-5200, yellow peas Canada low type was up by Rs 250 to Rs 3600 and best type picked up Rs 50 to Rs 3800, yellow peas dal Canada inferior type was higher by Rs 50 to Rs 4000-4200, yellow peas Ukraine gained Rs 25 to Rs 3500-3700 and yellow peas Ukraine dal also rose by Rs 25 to Rs 3925-4125. Irri-6 Sindh low type shed Rs 5 to Rs 3325 and best type was lower by Rs 15 to Rs 3360, other items maintained the overnight levels. Prices were unmoved on the seed sector, mainly because of slow demand.
On Jodia Bazaar kirana items moved both ways. The variations were :.KIRANA ITEMS (Per 40-kg): White pepper finished up by Rs 600 to Rs 31,600, black pepper Singapore went higher by Rs 1,300 to Rs 19,800, black pepper Ceylon moved upward by Rs 1000 to Rs 19,500, black pepper Brazil closed higher by Rs 2000 to Rs 22,000, mace edged up by Rs 6000 to Rs 94,000, big cardamom finished higher by Rs 2000 to Rs 85,000, cloves closed upward by Rs 4,500 to Rs 29,000, copra India moved higher by Rs 300 to Rs 6,500, saunf moved downward by Rs 600 to Rs 6,400, long pepper closed higher by Rs 3,500 to Rs 24,500 and star aniseed ended up by Rs 500 to Rs 15,000.
