Islamabad Police have failed in taking appropriate measures to curb street crimes as more than 125 incidents of theft including highway robbery, purse and vehicle snatching were reported during the week in the capital.
New beat system was introduced in the federal capital under which the jurisdiction of a police station was bifurcated into beats and inspector rank officers head the beat to ensure quick action against criminals, but so far no decline was reported in the crime ratio. Even after these measures people were deprived of their valuables including cars, motorcycles, cash, gold jewellery, watches and cell-phones etc worth millions of rupees during one week only.
The data obtained by Business Recorder from 14 police stations of Islamabad Police, around 91 outlaws including 12 women were arrested for their alleged involvement in street crimes, bootlegging, drug pushing, dacoities, car snatching, highway robberies and other crimes. During the search operations over 100 suspects were arrested who have failed to produce any identification papers, the police data revealed.
