At least five persons including two activists of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) were gunned down in separate incidents of targeted killing at various parts of the metropolis here on Monday. According to details, some two activists of ASWJ formerly known as Sipah Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) were targeted near Liaquatabad underpass in the limits of Liaquatabad police station.
The victim 28-year-old Abu Hashim son of Abu Baker and his friend Zubair son of Atiq were fallen prey by two unknown armed pillion riders when they were on motorcycle (KCC-3427) near Liaquatabad underpass. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico legal formalities, where scores of ASWJ workers rushed to the hospital and chanted slogans against the government.
Police said the victim Abu Hashim received three bullets while Zubair was hit by two bullets, adding that they had recovered five empty shells 9 MM from the scene. They further said the deceased Abu Hashim was studying at DJ Science and a resident of Yousuf Goth Sarjani Town while his friend Zubair was in NED University. Police said that they were targeted on the way to home from Seerat-un-Nabi conference, which was held at Bandhani Colony Liaquatabad. Tension engulfed several areas including Liaquatabad, Surjani and other neighbourhoods where miscreants resorted to aerial firing and burnt tyres and chanted slogans against the government.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of ASWJ Maulana Taj Hanfi condemned the killings of ASWJ activists and demanded of the government to arrest the culprits. Later Abu Hashim's Namaz-e-Janaza offered in Babe Rehmat Masjid Surjani Town while the funeral prayers of Zubair was offered at Liaquatabad and were buried in Surjani and Liaquatabad graveyards, respectively.
A case 40/11 of duel-murder was registered against unidentified culprits on the complaint of Aqeel. In another incident, a sanitary worker was shot dead at Narain Pura Ranchore Line in the limits of Eidgah police station. The victim, who was identified as Ravi 22, son of Ram Das and a resident of block 12 Narain Pura was gunned down when he was standing outside his home. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities and later handed over to his family. Police suspected that he might be murdered on account of informer.
A body of youth was found in the bushes at Korangi area in the remits of Awami Colony police station. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained, while police found his body from the bushes of Korangi area near blind school. Police said the victim received single bullet on his head and was murdered after being kidnapped and added that the deceased, who was appeared to be Bengali national, was in the late twenties. His body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post-mortem and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification.
Police registered a case against unidentified killers on the complaint of state and initiated probe in this connection. A truck driver was shot dead in an armed clash at Truck Stand Site area in the jurisdiction of Site (A) police station. The victim 35-year-old Abdul Ghaffar alias Papa son of Toor Khan, a resident of Bawani Chalie, was killed by his relative Mehboob at Truck Stand Site area over serious business conflict. The culprit after killing him, managed to flee, leaving Ghaffar in a pool of blood.
