President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Ghulam Mustafa Chaudhry in a press statement has expressed gratitude to Salman Siddique Chairman, FBR for resolving problems of the export industry of Sialkot. He said that in the meeting at Islamabad, the Chairman FBR was requested to continue zero rating status of the export industry including sports goods, surgical instruments, leather goods and sportswear in the best national interest.
It is very kind of the Chairman FBR to issue SRO for continuation of zero rating status of the export sector. He also thanked the Chairman for the favour that registration in Sales Tax for the leather sector would start at the stage of Organised Tanning industry to exempt the other vending facilities. Similarly, registration for the surgical industrial sector is made to start from the industrial unit stage while the vendors would remain exempted. Ghulam Mustafa said that this facility would immensely benefit the leather and surgical industry to remain focussed on exports.
He said that it was also suggested to the FBR that export industry be facilitated by allowing it duty free import of accessories against the export performance up to 10 percent. The Chairman was kind enough to consider allowing duty free import of accessories up to 5 percent of export performance. Hopefully, the facility would be allowed by the Chairman FBR as soon as possible, said the Chairman FBR. It was also recommended that DTRE scheme be simplified as it is creating problems for the exporters to achieve real benefit from the scheme. The Chairman FBR has consented to consider revising the DTRE to facilitate exports, he added.
