Pakistan Census Organisation has launched '6th Census Pakistan 2011' on Tuesday. In the first phase House Listing is being undertaken from April 5-19, 2011 during which all residential and non-residential building will be marked with digital codes and information of households will be collected.
Briefing about the arrangements to conduct Population Census Secretary Statistics Division, Asif Bajwa said that they have divided the entire country into four parts ie Census Districts, Census Charges, Census Circles and Census Blocks. One Census Circle consists of five to seven Census Blocks and One Census Charge consists of five to seven Census Circles. Every Census Block consists of 200-250 houses. 139 administrative districts of entire country including 1 of Islamabad, 10 of AJ&K, 7 of Gilgit-Baltistan, and 7 agencies of FATA have been divided into 423 Census Districts.
Approximately 85,000 enumerators and 20,000 supervisors will take part in the biggest field exercise. 80 percent enumerators are teachers, whereas others are Patwaris, Gardawars, Naib Tehsildars, Tehsildars and staff of local governments. All of them have been imparted special training, stationery, ink and other accessories to perform the job on scientific basis.
He also appealed to the nation to co-operate with the census teams, provide them correct information and help them reach every household. With national spirit and professional commitment we will make census a historic success.-PR
