Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said the development of Balochistan is priority of the government adding the introduction of Aghaz-e-Haqooe-e-Balochistan is the manifestation of the stern resolve of the government. The prime minister further said that the representation of Balochistan in the federal cabinet shows that the government is paying full attention on the development of Balochistan.
The prime minister expressed these views while talking to Changez Jamali, Minister for Science & Technology who called on him, here on Saturday. Gilani observed that the government was keen to develop the damaged irrigation infrastructure of the flood-ravaged areas of Balochistan. The requisite funds in this regard, will be released without any delay, he added. He assured the minister that the water share of Balochistan for the Kharif season would be ensured according to the Water Apportionment Accord (WAA) among the four provinces.
Talking about the importance of education, the prime minister said that the government was stressing on opening schools and polytechnic institutes in all the districts of Balochistan. He maintained that the government was planning to give 150 scholarships to brilliant Baloch students to enable them to study at best institutes of the country.
Jamali thanked Gilani for taking interest in the development of Balochistan. He apprised Gilani of various projects taken up by his Ministry. Talking to Senator Moula Baksh Chandio and Syed Mumtaz Alam Gilani, MNA, who called on him separately, here on Saturday, prime minister said that the government has disbursed maximum development funds to each and every constituency across political divide with an objective to achieve homogenous development of all areas.
He further said that his government is building a number of bridges in the country to connect regions reducing distances as well as accelerating economic activity. The prime minister also offered fateha for the mother of Syed Mumtaz Alam Gilani, who passed away recently.
Gilani said that the government has started consultation with all the political parties to work out a comprehensive and long-term economic reform plan for accelerating pace of development and sustainable economic growth. He said that the government was making concerted efforts to bring an economic turnaround in the near future.
