Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik constituted a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe into the suicide attacks on Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and directed the team to submit final findings of the report within a week.
The minister directed the law enforcement agencies to make all-out efforts to bring the people behind the heinous acts to justice. Malik condemned the suicide attack on the convoy of Maulana Fazl at Charsaddah, saying that the government would leave no stone unturned to chase the people behind the attacks.
The JIT would include DIG and officials of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Intelligence Bureau to submit its report within a week. Charsadda suicide attack on JUI rally, in which 13 people were killed and over 35 others injured was the second consecutive attempt on Maulana Fazlur Rehman in two days time. On Wednesday Maulana's reception camp at Swabi interchange of Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway was attacked in which ten persons were killed and many others injured.
