23 quacks held in Quetta

Some 23 quacks have been arrested in an operation launched by the district administration Quetta. Some 23 persons were arrested from localities including Satellite Town, Pshtoonabad and Gawalmandi. The operation was launched on Wednesday on the directive of Deputy Commissioner Quetta Muhammad Tariq against quacks and persons running medical stores and wholesale medicine business without any licence or permission.
Assistant Commissioner City Sardar Rafeeq Tareen, AC Saddar Asfand Yar Baloch and DHO Dr Abdul Haleem supervised the operation. According to the district administration sources, fake and spurious medicines with label of multi-national pharmaceuticals are smuggled from Afghanistan to Quetta city through Chaman border gate and later, they are dispatched to other parts of the country. The official sources maintained that fake medicines were also being manufactured in other areas of the provincial capital.
