Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) celebrated Pakistan Day here on Wednesday by dedicating itself to the ideals and teachings of the father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and hoisted Pakistan flag atop Bakhtiar Labour Hall.
The Pakistan Day meeting was attended by a large number of trade union representatives. It was addressed by President of PWF Chaudhry Talib Nawaz, Deputy Secretary General Osama Tariq, Chaudhry Nazim Iqbal and other labour leaders. The speakers vowed to strive for development of the country, strengthen democratic norms and defeat the divisive forces based on religious, sectarian and parochial tendencies.
The participants of the meeting offered special prayers for the martyrs of the Independence Movement as well as for those who laid down their lives for the defence of the fatherland. The meeting urged the government to check price hike and load shedding, which had resulted into unemployment of millions of workers and closure of many industries.
