The rupee was firm against dollar, it, however, continued its fall versus euro on the currency market on Wednesday, dealers said. The rupee maintained its rise, picking six paisa in terms of dollar for buying and selling at 85.50 and 85.55, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: In the third Asian trade dollar marked its lowest level in nearly three months as a string of robust economic data and easing concerns over Egypt took the steam out of safe-haven buying in the currency. Strong manufacturing numbers from the United States and other countries fuelled optimism on global economic growth, with expectations of loose US monetary policy further encouraging risk-taking.
Indian rupee was trading at Rs 45.76 versus dollar, Malaysian ringgit was available at 3.0430 against the greenback and Chinese Yuan was 6.5938 in terms of the US currency.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee gained 10 paisa against dollar for buying at 85.80 and picked up 20 paisa for selling at 85.90, they added. The rupee continued its fall versus euro, losing 35 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 117.80 and Rs 118.30, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee showed strength, as it appreciated its worth by 10-paisa in relation to the greenback in the local kerb on Wednesday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar witnessed downward slide on account of diminishing demand, which helped the local currency appreciate its worth. The dollar resumed trading at Rs 85.60 and Rs 85.90, as its buying and selling rates, compared to overnight closing rates of Rs 85.70 and Rs 86.00, the dealers said.
On the contrary, the rupee remained under pressure against the pound sterling and lost 50-paisa on buying side (Rs 137.50) and 30-paisa on selling side (Rs 138.30). The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 137.50 and Rs 138.30, as its buying and selling rates, compared to overnight closing rates of Rs 137.00 and Rs 138.00, they added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the currency exchange establishments of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 85.95 (buying) and Rs 86.10 (selling) against same last rates. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 85.95 (buying) and Rs 86.10 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 136.30 (buying) and Rs 136.70 (selling) against same previous rates. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 136.30 (buying) and Rs 136.70 (selling).
