At least three persons were killed and three others including an activist of MQM-H injured in separate incidents in various parts of the metropolis on Friday. According to police sources, a man was killed and two others injured on resistance during robbery attempt on a mini bus at Manghopir Road in the limits of Orangi Town police station.
The incident took place at Bakra Pir, situated at Manghopir Road where three armed men embarked a mini bus W-25 (JE-9910) and started looting valuables from the passengers. On resistance, the armed men opened fire on the passengers, injuring three persons namely Arsalan son of Munawar Hussain, Atif son of Abdul Karim and Abu Kalam. The bandits managed to flee.
The injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment where Arsalan succumbed to his injuries. Police said, the victim who was the resident of North Karachi Sector 11-A, was an employee of a private company. According to police, the victim was also a sympathiser of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). Later the police handed over the body to his heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report. In another incident, a bullet-riddled body of a youth was recovered from a nullah in the limits of Shah Latif police station.
The victim was later identified as Mohammad Hussain, 25 son of Allah Waraayo. He was the resident of Khoi Goth Shah Latif Town. According to police, some unidentified culprits threw his body in the nullah after spraying him with seven bullets. Police quoting sources said that the victim had some monetary dispute with his relative, whose involvement in the murder cannot be ruled out. His body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities.
In another incident, a minor boy was crushed to death by a speedy water tanker at Junejo Town in Manzoor Colony, Mehmoodabad. Police said the speeding vehicle hit the victim, Mohammad Hussain, 8 when he was playing outside his house. They said the driver managed to flee the scene and police shifted the victim's body to JPMC. The body was later handed over to his heirs.
In yet another incident, an activist of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H) was injured at Juttland Lines in the jurisdiction of Brigade police station. Police said, two armed men sprayed bullets on the victim Rahat, 30 son of Sadaqat Ullah when he was standing outside his house. They said the victim was shifted to JPMC in a critical condition for medical treatment. Police said that Rahat, who was an employee of KW&SB, was the former Unit In charge of MQM-H.
