Minister for Agriculture Punjab Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh visited Punjab Seed Corporation Office here on Thursday and was briefed about the administrative affairs, provision and availability of seeds for wheat and cotton crops. He expressed satisfaction over the performance of the corporation. Managing Director Punjab Seed Corporation Muzaffer Mehmood briefed the Minister about over all situation of seed provision.
He said that corporation has provided 1 lac 20 thousand seed bags to Balochistan and 31 thousand bags to International Islamic Organisation as Aid. Provincial Minister for Agriculture said that owing to the importance of seeds in agriculture sector Punjab Government intends to establish research centres to improve its quality. He said that Seed Corporation should establish its own effective research wing. He directed the corporation administration to pay special attention to improve the quality and quantity of the seeds, so that, the needs of Punjab as well as other provinces could be addressed properly. He said that corporation should adopt practical and effective mechanism. Minister Agriculture has directed to hold detailed meeting on this issue on Tuesday next at Punjab Seed Corporation.
