The brother of Senator Zahid Khan was among three others who were injured in an attack at his residence in Lower Dir today, private TV Channel reported Tuesday. Leader of Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Zahid's residence in Augigram in Lower Dir area was attacked on Tuesday, where a security guard was killed and three other people were injured, according to police sources.
The injured include Senator Zahid's brother who has been shifted to hospital in a critical condition.
Monitoring Desk adds: Unidentified gunmen attacked the residence of senior Awami National Party leader Zahid Khan in Lower Dir on Tuesday, killing one person and injuring three others, including the politician's brother. Zahid Khan, a member of the Senate or upper house of parliament and the spokesman of the ANP, was not in the house in Lower Dir district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province at the time of the attack, police said.
The ANP leader's brother, Ayub Khan, was seriously injured in the attack and was taken to Peshawar for treatment. Police officials said he was hit by bullets in the throat and chest. A contractor named Malang Khan was killed and two other men who were visiting Ayub Khan were injured, police officials said. The officials said it was yet to be determined whether the attack was carried out by militants or it was related to some feud. Taliban militants have killed dozens of ANP leaders and workers in attacks over the past three years.
