Shabab-e-Milli Chief, Attiqur Rahman and Acting Secretary, Ahmed Salman Baloch have denounced the setting up of a committee on Basant (kite flying) by the PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif, saying that the move reflects the mindset of the PML-N chief.
In a joint statement issued here on Monday, they said that in the past, the PML-N leaders had been publicly opposing the kite flying festival declaring it un-Islamic but the formation of the Basant committee showed that the PML-N leader was consistent in his inconsistencies".
They pointed out that the deadly sport of kite flying or Basant had caused the death of hundreds of youth and left hundreds other permanently disabled. The festival caused huge financial losses and no sane person could justify it on any ground. Shabab-e-Milli had always campaigned against the Basant festival with full public support, they said. They counseled the PML-N leadership to dissolve the Basant committee.
