Federal Law Minister Babar Awan has said that the federal government had decided to cut the size of the Cabinet for reducing expenses, a private TV channel reported on Saturday. Talking to the mediamen in Islamabad, Awan said that some ministers would be given additional charges and some ministries would be shifted to provinces.
He said the decision was taken at a meeting presided over by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. Quoting the sources, the channel claimed that Petroleum Minister Naveed Qamar would be given additional charge of Ports and Shipping Ministry.
Federal Minister for Information, Qamar Zaman Kaira while talking to the channel said that allies would be taken into confidence for reshuffling the Cabinet. According to the channel, the government was under severe pressure from opposition parties and it was trying to implement some of the items of 10-point agenda given by the PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif.
