Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 96,007 tonnes of cargo including 61,534 tonnes of import cargo, 34,473 tonnes of export cargo, 6,888 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 61,534 tonnes comprised of 39,333 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,115 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,040 tonnes of coal; 2,971 tonnes of wheat; 9,104 tonnes of rock phosphate and 4,086 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 34,473 tonnes comprised of 30,996 tonnes of containerised cargo; 303 tonnes of general cargo; 2,774 tonnes of cement and 400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Three ships namely Lt Trieste, Sichem Osprey and Hyundai New York with containers, oil tanker and containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Three vessels viz Al-Wajba, Liberty Sun and Al-Brisbane carrying containers, bulk cargo and containers respectively are currently at the berths. One ship namely Al-Saada carrying base oil expected to sail on Tuesday, while three ships namely YM North, Liberty Star and Wan Hai-605 with containers, wheat and containers respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
One vessel viz President Folk carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while ten vessels viz Precedence, Lady Jasmine, Vinashin Melody, HS Challenger, Trave Trader, Bunga Teratai, Concord, Saigon Express, De Shan and Island Star with ethanol Molasses, Mogas, containers and cement respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIMThe Port Qasim handled 49,407 tonnes of cargo includes 41,309 tonnes of import cargo and 8,098 tonnes of export cargo, 1,037 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours. The total import cargo of 41,309 tonnes includes 17,165 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,500 tonnes of palm oil; 1,063 tonnes of sugar; 7,991 tonnes of chemicals and 7,590 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 8,098 tonnes includes 935 tonnes of wheat; 791 tonnes of cement and 6,372 tonnes of containerised cargo. One wheat ship namely MV Loganda sailed out to sea during last 24 hours. A total number of seven vessels viz MV Leopard-B, MV Lagonda, Rain Bow, Enrico Ievoli, Gulf Tiger and Bow Panther are currently occupying berths to load/offload cement, wheat, sugar, chemicals, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Nine ships namely Yon Phung Ho, Alexi-1, Rana, Island Star, Olympic Sponsor, Al-Farahidi, Sichem Osprey, Maritime Kelly Anne and Nedlloyd Mercator carrying wheat, cement, crude oil, containers, edible oil, crude palm oil and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of four vessels viz Nedlloyd Mercator, Al-Farahidi, MV Rana and Yon Phung Ho carrying containers, cement and wheat respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FAP Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
