The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will extend full co-operation to Transparency International Pakistan whose chairman is being victimised by the state owned agencies for unearthing billions of rupees of financial scams in different public sector departments.
On Thursday Chairman NAB, former justice Syed Deedar Hussain Shah assured Chairman Transparency International Pakistan, Syed Adil Gilani that NAB would provide full support to Transparency International''s efforts in fighting the menace of corruption from the public and private sectors.
Top officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) probing Rs 6 billion financial scam of National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) are reportedly harassing Adil Gilani because of Transparency International Pakistan''s role in detection of corruption which ultimately earned a bad name for the incumbent government.
Chairman NAB revealed that in order to create awareness among the youth, a number of anti-corruption themes have been included in the curricula from grade 2 to college level. NAB is also in touch with the private and public educational institutions, educational boards and also HEC to include anti-corruption themes in research topics for senior students across the country.
He stated that National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) is a comprehensive document which if implemented in its true spirit by all stakeholders would help reduce instances of corrupt practices. NAB will also carry out an independent analysis of the present strategy to meet this formidable challenge in future. Gilani was of the view that Transparency International should also be associated with NAB during the review of the anti-corruption strategy.
Chairman NAB expressed his resolve to utilise all available resources to fight corruption so as to provide a cleaner social fabric to the new generation, which will provide equal opportunities to all in the society. Adil Gilani welcomed the NAB initiative and expressed his gratitude for the support provided to him in anti-corruption efforts. Chairman NAB was assisted by DG (Awareness & Prevention), Dir NACS Aliya Rashid and Advisor NAB.
