Crimes in Bin Qasim Town area and on National Highway assume serious proportions

Street crimes have assumed serious proportions in Bin Qasim Town area and National Highway, threatening the lives and property of industrialists and local population working in the area. Of late, a number of foreigners, Japanese, European and Chinese and belonging to other nationalities working in the area have suffered at the hands of criminals who operate and strike at will in one of the important port areas of the country.
A high level delegation of Bin Qasim Association of Trade and Industry (BQATI), led by Mohammad Ahmed, Patron-in-chief/Founder President, Usman Ahmed, Founder Vice President and Farhan Ansari, Chairman, Law and Order Committee of BQATI, recently met Home Secretary R.S.Ahmed, CCPO, Karachi, Fayyaz Laghari and TPO Bin Qasim and apprised them about the increase in street crimes, 'bhatta' demand and kidnapping which are on the rise in Bin Qasim Town and adjoining areas.
Gangs of miscreants roam around in the area on motor cycle, hold up cars at gunpoint and snatch mobile phones, wallets, laptops, wrist watches and other valuables from the drivers and inmates of cars. Their modus operandi is to follow cars and, at a 'safe place', hold them up at gunpoint and snatch whatever valuables the passengers have.
These incidents have occurred in the area starting from Quaidabad to Razaqabad as well as Landhi industrial area. These areas have almost become 'NO GO' areas for industrialists and common man. People are forced to pay 'bhatta' to these gangsters who carry out their criminal activities in broad daylight.
BQATI has categorised potential threats as follows: 'bhatta' demand from industrialists, kidnapping of company personnel, loss or damage to company and private properties, payroll snatching, harassment by criminals in the area. A number of persons have also been killed by these criminals, and incidents of car snatching have increased.
