The Sindh University's Vice Chancellor Executive Council has approved that Deans should work as administrator to look after full time to academic activities at their concerned Faculties, to visit the institutes and departments and to interact with the students to resolve their problems. This matter was discussed in 23rd meeting of the Vice Chancellor's Executive Council held here on Tuesday.
The meeting was presided over by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nazir A Mughal which was attended by Pro -Vice Chancellors Dr Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar, Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Deans of the Faculties, Registrar Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Advisor Planning and Development Muhammad Hussain Shaikh, Heads various Institutes and Departments, Controller of Examinations Muhammad Nawaz Narejo, Consultant to Vice Chancellor on Higher Education Dr Muhammad Raees and others.
The Vice Chancellor informed the meeting that last night at 1.00 am some unidentified motorcyclist gunfire on residence of his Protocol Officer Ghulam Hyder Lashari at Sindh University Colony and informed that report of the incident was sent to local police station. The Vice Chancellor on this occasion expressed great concern-over on law and order situation and said that he has centralised entire security system of the campus under control of a Director Security campus for vigilant security. He said that for the improvement of security system at the campus, training for the security guards of the University would be arranged on regular basis. The Vice Chancellor also highlighted academic reforms as recommended by 22 meetings of the executive council and said that he wish to encourage young leadership for the betterment at academic and administration side of the University.
The Vice Chancellor said that in different Universities the Deans have been working as administrators to help the administration in academic area and added that under the academic reforms during the year 2011 the Deans of the Faculties would become administrator to look after for full time to the administration of the teaching institutes and departments and to improve the quality of education as well as to interact with the students for resolving of their problems at departmental level.
He informed the meeting that reemployment of retired faculty as well as administration has been stopped. He also informed that meeting that during the current year more academic linkage agreements with more foreign Universities will be imitated. The meeting also approved to introduce best awards in different categories to improve the academic and administrative efficiency. The Vice Chancellor informed the meeting that for water management new water line would be installed at campus and for the purpose he has asked to the advisor Engineering wing to submit feasibility report and added that road of the campus would also be repaired. It was also decided that from the year 2011 on best performance best alumnae, best teacher, best staff and best officer awards would be awarded for the encouragement.
