Shanghai's benchmark third-month copper futures contract closed up one percent at 70,510 yuan ($10,624) a tonne on Tuesday "It is a rebound from consecutive days of decline, as the 20-day moving average turns out a strong support level," said a Shanghai-based trader.
Spot copper prices in Shanghai were at about 450 yuan discount to the front-month Shanghai futures contract. Shanghai aluminium edged down 0.2 percent to 16,850 yuan. Shanghai zinc gained half a percent to 19,025 yuan.
