Punjab Assembly demands reconstitution of Irsa

Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution by opposition MPA Muhammad Mohsin Khan Laghari demanding reconstitution of Irsa and taking of fifth member of Irsa from neutral area such as Azad Kashmir or Islamabad. In the resolution opposition member said this was necessary to avoid any confrontation between provinces and implementation of 1991 Accord.
In another resolution passed on the day MPA Mian Nasir-u-Din asked for mandatory making of walkways on each side of main roads. In another resolution of MPA Khawja Muhammad Islam, after incorporating words in the resolution, demand was made to the federal government for reduction of Sui gas load shedding in Punjab. He said this was vital as major economic activity was being done in the province.
Punjab Senior Minister Raja Riaz speaking in the house on the occasion nullified the opinion that load shedding was only being done in Punjab. He said it was also being enforced in other provinces. The senior minister said that there should be no confrontation between provinces and the federation. He said even differences should not occur between the provinces. He implored upon federal as well as provincial government to sit together and solve nicely their differences.
To a query, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that under West Pakistan Family Courts Act 1964(3) Punjab Government had approved posts of 35 civil judges and other staff for being appointed as presiding officer of family courts in various districts of province.
To a query by MPA Naseer Ahmed Law Minister said that province was not in possession of any phone locator, he pointed that that this service was taken from another agency. To a question, minister stated those four cases were registered against police men since year 2009 till present period.
Minister Law said that there were 7000 civil defence volunteers in Lahore adding that there were two centres of civil defence in PP-147. There were a number of adjournment motions presented in the House during the day. The House was adjourned for Wednesday (today) 10.00 am.
