Transporters have postponed the meeting scheduled for January 11 regarding raising fares following the govt's decision to withdraw hike in prices of petroleum products. Karachi Transport Ittehad President Syed Irshad Hussain Bukhari on Friday, confirmed that transporters would not hold the meeting on January 11 (Tuesday), as there was no reason left for protest after the withdrawal of hike in POL prices.
However, he warned against the Federal Minister Naveed Qamar's announcement Friday that next time the prices of petroleum products would be increased more than this time. He said that our government should be loyal to the nation instead of being loyal to the IMF and US.
He also urged the Sindh government to early compensate those transporters whose vehicles were burnt in various incidents and those drivers and cleaners who lost their lives in the incidents. On the directives of Provincial Home Minister, we have already submitted the details about the vehicles and other matters to Home Secretary but so far no action has been taken, Bukhari said.
