Export premiums for corn, soyabeans and wheat shipped from the US Gulf Coast held mostly steady on Monday in quiet trade following the long New Year's holiday weekend, traders said. Many traders yet to return from year-end holidays. Chinese markets and several European markets were closed on Monday.
Soft red winter wheat premiums remained underpinned by tight supplies, while hard red winter wheat premiums were supported by solid export demand, traders said. A tender by Turkey for 300,000 tonnes wheat closes next week. Some traders said prompt shipment period of January 20 to February 1 may limit number of offers in the tender. Wheat traders awaiting result of a hard wheat tender by Iraq. HRW likely among the least expensive varieties offered in the tender, but some traders questioned if Iraq would buy any wheat after Monday's futures price surge. Flooding in Australia lifted high-protein US wheat prices to two-year highs on Monday.
