A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Turkey and the government of Punjab to construct 2,120 modern houses in the floods affected districts. In this regard the ceremony of signing of MoU was held in the committee room of Board of Revenue recently.
According to information from DGPR received here on Sunday, Caglar Horoz, Co-ordinator of TOKI Housing Development Administration of Turkey and Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khalid Sher Dil signed the MoU. On this occasion Relief Commissioner Punjab Akhlaq Ahmad Tarar and 9 members of delegation of Turkey were present.
According to the MoU, 2,120 housing units for 2120 families of flood-hit villages in districts Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur would be constructed. These housing units would be constructed at new locations in Mauza Rakh Khanpur in tehsil & district Muzaffargarh, and in Mauza Rakh Fazilpur, tehsil and district Rajanpur and in Rakh Azmatwala tehsil Jampur district Rajanpur.
Khalid Sher Dil said that the reconstruction activities in the flood-affected areas have been accelerated and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is monitoring himself all rehabilitation work. He said that brother country Turkey "has always helped us in times of trial". The two countries have good and strong relations. He said that two rooms, kitchen, bathroom, courtyard and other facilities would be provided in these housing units. He said that market, school, playground and vocational schools would also be constructed in this housing scheme.
