Futures open interest up by 29.5 percent

Total open interest position at the futures counter increased by 29.5 percent during the outgoing week ended on December 31, 2010 to Rs 1.41 billion. On the other hand, the future spreads surged by 122bps on week-on-week basis 4.51 percent.
Trading activities at the futures counter improved significantly as the average daily volume increased by 119 percent to 6.6 million shares.
The top 5 scrips at the futures counter, constituting 73 percent of total open interest, were POL, PSO, NBP, NML and MCB.
