All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) is poised to take new heights in 2011 after feathering a successful year in its cap with a vision to foster new investment in the sector to tap potential of two billion dollar exports in the near future.
According to industry sources, an effective public advocacy on crucial issues of textile industry by Chairman Aptma, Gohar Ejaz has resulted into an across the board achievements, including restoration of free market mechanism, energy crisis management as well as a commitment from President, Asif Ali Zardari to continue zero rating facility for textile industry under Reformed General Sales Tax (RGST).
It is for the first time in the history of Aptma that the annual dinner of the association is taking place at the presidency on January 6, 2011, on the desire of President Asif Ali Zardari. Sources added that Aptma chairman would spell out future vision of textile industry in the January 6 function. The Prime Minister has already desired that concerned ministries consult Aptma on policy formulation and decision making process of cotton and textile sectors. The PM has also directed to assess impact of gas load management on textile industry and take corrective measures in this regard.
It may be noted that Aptma is representing industry issues at every relevant forum and coming up with workable solutions both for the industry and government policymakers. It has also taken up issues of market access with the ministry of commerce to avail the opportunity to the maximum. Aptma chairman has been representing the association at the government level in a very effective manner, impressing upon the functionaries about the industry's viewpoint on various issues.
