Copper prices fell in New York on Wednesday as investors took profit for the first time in three sessions and closed up in London after record highs as U.K. markets reopened from the long Christmas break. On the New York Mercantile Exchange's COMEX metals division, copper's benchmark contract, March, settled down 1.65 cents, or 0.4 percent, at 4.3115 a lb.
It had peaked at $4.3350 on Tuesday, after record highs in two straight sessions.
