Members of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Wednesday made highly personalised attacks against each other's leadership while talking separately to media persons outside the Parliament.
Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and central leader of the PML-N Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan while talking to reporters lashed out at MQM's chief Altaf Hussain, saying that "he [Altaf] loses his senses when he speaks".
He asked the MQM's chief to return back to country to do politics for the masses. He also demanded that the MQM chief should tender an apology to the nation for his "past deeds". He further said that the current government would remain in power till the MQM continued to support it. He also rejected the impression that his party, PML-N, was supporting the ruling PPP. "We will never support a crumbling government," he said, adding that his party would not give Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani a vote of confidence.
To a question about JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman's demand for removal of Yousuf Raza Gilani from the office of prime minister, the leader of the opposition said that it was Maulana's personal views that he had expressed about the premier.
Haider Abbas Rizvi, Deputy Parliamentary Leader of MQM, said that the "lions of the PML-N had acted as jackals in the House as all lions of this party ran away. He blamed the PML-N for being a "product" of a dictator. He accused Chaudhry Nisar of using derogatory language against MQM chief Altaf Hussain. Waseem Akhter of MQM said that the leader of Opposition "does not come into the house without wearing wig. The PML-N leaders go to England for hair transplant." He claimed that Chaudhry Nisar "looked like Mr Beans". He said that persecution of MQM was going on in Punjab.
