The countrywide shutter down on December 31 on the issue of the Holy Prophet's (PBUH) sanctity would demonstrate the Muslims' faith and the whole nation must stand united on this sensitive issue, Deputy Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami Dr Farid Ahmed Paracha, said here Wednesday.
The people of Pakistan should demonstrate to the world powers, the foreign funded NGOs and the so-called secular elements in the country that in spite of their political and group differences, they stood united so far as the Holy Prophet's (PBUH) sanctity was concerned, he said, in a press statement.
He said that all the Chambers of Commerce and Industries in the country besides the traders' bodies had given an assurance to join the strike. If the rulers opted to play with the religious sentiments of the people, they could face a stronger movement than the historic Nizam-e-Mustafa movement of 1977, he added.
