Russia harvests 60.9 million tonnes of grain in 2010

Russia's grain crop in 2010 was 60.9 million tonnes, according to preliminary full-year data of the state statistics office Rosstat. This is the lowest crop since 1999. A severe drought cut output of all cereals except for rice. Feed grain output was halved. Spring grains output fell to 29.5 million tonnes, compared with 51.3 million in 2009. Winter grain output declined to 31.45 million tonnes from 45.8 million.
Wheat output fell by 32.7 percent to 41.5 million tonnes. The share of milling wheat is estimated at 78 percent of the total output, although production declined by some 22 percent to 32.4 million tonnes.
