The Karachi Port handled 248,109 tonnes of cargo including 184,649 tonnes of import cargo, 63,460 tonnes of export cargo, 4,157 loaded and empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 184,649 tonnes comprised of 81,867 tonnes of containerised cargo; 471 tonnes of general cargo; 58,843 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,879 tonnes of sugar; 39,500 tonnes of coal; 15,113 canola seeds and 43,468 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 63,460 tonnes comprised of 37,493 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,163 tonnes of general cargo; 8,712 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,971 tonnes of cement; 4,741 tonnes of rice and 16,092 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Twelve ships namely Easy Prosperity, Williamburg Bridge, TS Dubai, MT Karachi, Oriental Freesia, North Pole, Teera Bhum, Lady Nariman, Lietta, F Spirit, YM Europe and Liberty with containers, general cargo, bulk cargo and containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Fifteen vessels viz APL Sharjah, Teera Bhum, Positano, Cape Mannuel, Samin-1, Kota Akbar, Al-Mirqab, APL Amman, North Pole, Freight Margie, Cora, Topaz-II, Liberty, Ocean Island and Troy carrying containers, chemicals, Naphtha, HSD, cement, cars, coal and rice are currently at the berth. A container ship namely APL Sharjah expected to sail on Monday, while five ships namely Al-Mirqab, Freight Margie, Cora, Ocean Island and Positano are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Four vessels viz Hyundai General, Hansa Stavanger, Drawef Naree and Iron Butterfly carrying containers, Steel coil and project cargo due to arrive on Monday, while eight vessels viz MT Lahore, APL Agate, OEL Trust, Bunga Raya Tiga, CSL Ride, Nellam, Emzari and Noble Coral with containers, steel coil, project cargo, crude oil, containers, coal, cement and general cargo are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total export cargo includes 34,512 tonnes of containerised cargo. Four ships namely CV Maersk Georgia, CV Maersk Camron, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Norgas Orinda sailed out to sea on Monday. A total number of eight vessels viz CV Maersk Georgia, CV Maersk Camron, MV MY Young, MV Yon Phung Ho, MV Lanka Mahapola, MV Al-Jaber, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Norgas Orinda are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, diesel oil, sugar, chemicals and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Two ships namely Maersk Glory and SC Ningbo carrying LPG and chemicals are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of three vessels viz namely CV Maersk Georgia, MT Maersk Glory and SC Ningbo with containers, LPG and chemicals are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Progas Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday. A container ship namely CV Haydn due to arrive on Monday, while two more container ships namely CV Najran and CV CMA CGM Mozart are due to arrive on Tuesday. A total number of three container ships namely Villi DOrion, ACX Hibicus and MSC Nederland are also due to arrive.
