Equities move both ways on LSE

Equities on Friday moved both the ways on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) and finally ended in green zone amid ascending transaction volume on account of fresh buying in selective scrips. The LSE-25 index gained 19.71 points and was ended at 3671.84 points against 3652.13 points of Thursday, while trading turnover was increased to 5.292 million shares, as compared to 3.187 million shares traded a day earlier.
The market opened on a healthy sign but could not sustain in the absence of buying support. The market stayed in negative zone during first trading session. Adamjee Insurance, Pakistan Reinsurance, Lucky Cement, Attock Refinery, Hub Power, Dewan Cement, Kot Addu Power, Habib Bank and Habib Sugar suffered losses due to selling pressure.
However, as a result of fresh buying in Pakistan Oil Fields, PPL, United Bank, National Bank, MCB Bank, Bank Alfalah, Fauji Fertiliser, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Fatima Fertiliser, Engro Corporation, Lotte Pakistan PTA, Dewan Salman Fibre and Nishat Chunian, the market showed vertical improvement and maintained upward move during the second trading session.
The gainers were far ahead of losers, as out of a total of 126 companies, 42 posted gains, 20 went down, while values of 64 companies remained unchanged at their previous levels. Fauji Fertiliser was improved by Rs 5.15, Pakistan Oil Fields gained Rs 3.75, Dawood Hercules Chemical was appreciated by Rs 2.63, while MCB Bank and PSO were up by Rs 2.25 and Rs 2.13, respectively.
In the minus column, Adamjee Insurance was declined by 92-paisa, Lucky Cement was declined by 70-paisa, while Attock Refinery and Hub Power were down by 67-paisa and 53-paisa, respectively. Emco Industries was the market leader whose 2.100 million shares changed hands followed by Lotte Pakistan PTA with 1.203 million shares.
