The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has stepped up revenue recovery drive against habitual payment defaulter all across the city by disconnecting the power supply to make them pay bills.
According to the details, the KESC teams have been surveying all areas of the city to identify major defaulting consumers and the major locations disconnected for recovery of outstanding dues during the current month, includes Bismillah Centre, Shakeel Gardens, Iqra City Phase-2, A-1 Complex Phase-1, A-1 Complex Phase-2, A-1 Apartments, Shireen Jinnah Colony, KDA Flats Surjani, Rabia City and Palm Beach Apartments Clifton. After the negotiations with the representatives of the defaulting consumers all the mentioned defaulters have signed undertakings with KESC on payment schedule.
An official of KESC told Business Recorder that due to revenue recovery drive KESC had successfully received payments from some major commercial and residential projects after the power supply disconnection. The KESC had disconnected the power supply only to motivate the consumers for paying huge longstanding bills, he added.
He said that after the negotiations KESC had restored the power supply of the defaulted units and local influential persons. He said that elected representatives are playing their positive role in this process. The initiative had brought positive results to speed up cash inflow which is direly needed by the utility to maintain balance of payment with major providers, he added. Recently KESC has successfully negotiated with the associations in Alkaram and Apsara Apartments in Liaqatabad and a formal agreement for the recovery of outstanding dues will be signed on Friday December 24, 2010. While the electricity of Alkaram and Apsara has already restored.
