Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Punjab, Neelam Jabbar Chaudhry has said huge funds are being spent on social protection and economic development of women. Some new projects would also be launched for the welfare of women under Gender Reform Action Programme, she added.
Addressing office-bearers of a local non-governmental organisation, she said that billions of rupees had been earmarked for mother and childcare programmes. The government wanted to empower women, she said adding that government had evolved a comprehensive programme for the welfare of women and to provide them equal opportunities. Co-operation and grant would be provided to the NGOs that were working for the welfare of womenfolk, she added.
