Benazir Bhutto Peace and National Solidarity cycle rally left for Islamabad from Baba Bulhe Shah's Mazar and reached Lahore in the first phase. The rally would reach Islamabad on December 28, 2010. Provincial Minister for Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Tanvir-ul-Islam and officers of Sports Department received the participants of the rally at National Hockey Stadium Ferozpur Road Lahore.
The rally was arranged to promote national solidarity and peace. Addressing the cyclists in Lahore, Dr Tanvir-ul-Islam said that PPP along with democratic forces was endeavouring for the promotion of a strong democratic culture in the country as well as making efforts for the establishment of a society based on justice where equal rights would be given to everyone.
He stressed the need of promoting sports activities for discouraging terrorism and extremism. Lauding the spirit of patriotism of the participants of the cycle rally, the minister said that they should utilise all capabilities for the promotion of national solidarity and peace in the present circumstances so that country could be put on the road of progress and prosperity.
