Bid to kidnap man foiled; three held

Through a prompt action Islamabad Police foiled kidnapping bid and nabbed three kidnappers who were trying to speed away towards Peshawar after kidnapping a person from Chungi No 26. Arms and ammunition was also recovered from the detained outlaws.
The kidnappers were identified as Firdous Alam son of Loh Alam, Ikhlaq Ahmed son of Nizam Din, Dr Abdul Rauf son of Muhammad Siddique while one Kalashnikove assault rifle and one 30 bore pistol were also recovered from them, said a spokesman of Islamabad Police here on Monday.
Islamabad Police received a message through wireless that a car bearing registration No IDB-8729 is heading towards Chungi No 26 and there are reports that two occupants of the car have to pay ransom amount to the persons who had kidnapped Azhar Mehmud son of Bashir a few days ago, the spokesman said.
When one of occupants of the car got down to pay the ransom amount to the kidnappers, they also made him hostage at gun point, pushed him in his own car and headed towards Peshawar, he said, adding that following this incident, a person called at Rescue 15 and told his name as Bashir father of kidnapped Azhar Mehmud. He also informed Police that his son Asad had been kidnapped by the persons whom they have to deliver ransom amount for the release of his earlier kidnapped son Azhar Mehmud.
Bashir said that he is chasing the car of the kidnappers in the area of Tarnol. Through wireless messages and call from Rescue 15, DSP Malik Tahir Mehmud and SHO Qasim Khan Niazi immediately told the police team already patrolling in the area which managed to stop the car of kidnappers at Sangjani toll plaza.
Police team including Sub-Inspector Ameer Umer, Head Constables Tahir Abbass, Muhammad Farooq, Constables Imran, Waheed Ulalh, Allah Rakha overpowered three occupants of car, recovered adducted person Asad while the accomplices of these nabbed kidnappers providing them cover in another vehicle managed to escape after seeing the police party.
A case was registered and further investigation is underway. SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan and SP Dr Khuram Rasheed have appreciated the performance of the police team who arrested kidnappers and announced cash prizes as well as commendation certificates for them.
