Ukraine to facilitate Pak businessmen: Mayko

ukraine_flag_copyKARACHI: Ukraine government will work towards the creation of conducive business environment and will facilitate Pakistani businessmen visiting Ukraine.

This assurance was extended by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Victor Mayko while talking to the first ever high profile Pakistani business delegation led by Chief Executive Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Tariq Puri.

According to information reaching here Thursday, Tariq Puri emphasized upon the Deputy Foreign Minister the significance of having a liberal visa regime between the two countries, and B2B contacts are imperative to boost the quantum of bilateral trade.

The delegation also met with Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs of Ukraine and discussed the prospects for investment cooperation between the two countries and the progress made after previous Joint Ministerial Committee meeting.

Puri invited leading companies of Ukraine to invest in Pakistan especially in the sectors of fertilizers, plastic, steel, agriculture and iron ore.

He also extended an invitation to the leading Ukranin firms for attending 7th Expo Pakistan, scheduled in Karachi in October 2012.

Pakistani delegation also held meeting with the officials of Ukrainian State Customs. The Ukrainian officials informed the Pakistani delegation that they are in the process of revamping their custom procedures and a new custom code was being developed in order to prepare for potential integration into the European Customs Union. This new code of custom procedure would indeed help Pakistani businessperson in the coming months.

The 30-member strong Pakistani delegation also held an interactive session with Ukrainian media over a dinner reception hosted by Pakistan's Ambassador to Ukraine A N Saleem Mela.
