BANGKOK: A court in Thailand on Thursday jailed a Thai-born US citizen for two and a half years for defaming the monarchy, in the latest conviction under the kingdom's strict lese majeste laws.
The Criminal Court sentenced Joe Wichai Commart Gordon to five years in prison, but halved the term as the car salesman from Colorado pleaded guilty to translating a banned biography of the Thai king and publishing it online.
