Students now get 4 years time to pass SSC, HSC exams

KARACHI: The students now have four years instead of three for passing the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th class examinations.

This was stated by the chairman of the country's educational boards, Prof. Anwar Ahmed Zai, here on Wednesday.

He said that according to the earlier decision of the Inter-Board Committee of chairmen (IBCC) of 27 academic boards all over the country, if a candidates had got registered for SSC or HSC examination he or she had three years to pass the respective examinations.

Now one more year has been granted to the candidate to clear the examinations, Prof. Anwar, who is also the Chairman of the Board of intermediate Education Karachi, added.

He said that those students of Karachi Intermediate Board who would be appearing in the 2012 annual examination, would have to appear in those papers only in which they were declared fail.

The Karachi Board has issued a notification for implementation of this decision. It will benefit some 5,000 students of intermediate level in Karachi and up to 7,000 at the secondary level.

Prof. Anwar said that this notification has been sent to other boards in the country for implementation and is estimated to benefit some 200,000 students.
