LAHORE: The foolproof security arrangements have been finalised here to observe the 10th of Muharram (Ashura) with reverence, as law enforcement agencies are on red alert to foil any untoward incident.
Official sources told APP on Monday that the police department had already cancelled leaves of its employees to be deployed at sensitive places in uniform and plain clothes.
The local administration had also chalked out a comprehensive plan of action to maintain law and order on Youm-e-Ashur, they said, adding that district control room have been set up all over the province. These control rooms would function round the clock, the sources said.
Police and intelligence agencies had jointly launched a special drive titled 'Watch the Guest' to keep eye on the activities of people coming from out stations and staying at various hotels and guest houses here.
The agencies started operation against saboteurs on Sunday night but no major breakthrough has so far been made.
The law enforcement agencies had started the screening of hotels and guest houses.
Police had sealed the city. Vehicles coming from other cities were being checked thoroughly. Furthermore, checking and search was enhanced at railway station and bus-wagon stands.
